A charming collection of the remarkable dogs that traipsed through the author's heart and family Dobermans, K9s, fosters, rescues, cow dogs, a special Giant Schnauzer named Blue, and of course Little Miss Muffitt.
"Lets move to a farm and raise horses." Those words uttered by four-yearold Rose forewarned her parents who were happy city dwellers that she was an "animal person." But by the time she was eight, the family did move to a Pennsylvania farm where a multitude of animals wandered through her life, but no dogs. When she married, the family began their adventure with canines of many breeds, some purebred puppies, some fostered, some adopted and the loyal hard working K9s who were partners with Rose's daughter and sonin-law on the local police department. Loving dogs means losing them as they "just do not live long enough" but these stories of devoted, and some not so devoted, canines will warm your heart and give chuckles as well as some tears. Several Dobermans were family favorites. Lady Blue, a Giant Schnauzer, was a challenge. Muffitt, the Miniature Schnauzer, who was the love of Rose's life lived with the family for nearly seventeen years, a satisfactory time in dog-life, but losing a devoted companion who was with one that long was extremely traumatic. Grief stricken for months, one day she finds herself in local pet store that allows foster animal meetings with potential adopters. There she discovers an older Miniature Schnauzer, Maggie, and feeling sure that Muffitt guided her there, adopts the rescued puppy-mill mother. This story is a tribute to Little Miss Muffitt and all the other dogs in people's lives that fill that very special need and place in their hearts.

I own and have read all of Rose's books, and I think this one might just be my favorite. What I love about Rose's books is her conversational writing, as if she is sitting right next to you telling her stories. She is honest and forthright, which makes her stories more interesting and heartfelt. It was very educational to learn more about breeds I don't have a lot of experience in. As a child, there was a very friendly and beautiful Doberman female that lived next door to us. Her name was Duchess, and she would come and stand with her front paws on the fence for us to pet her and love on her. So it was great to learn more about a breed I've always admired.
I also really appreciated how much she delved into the K9s in her life. It was great to hear such amazing stories about K9s and how they do--or sometimes don't--work with their handlers.
Another part of this book was very important to me. I am currently dealing with an old dog and an old cat who aren't doing too well. Both of these pets we've had for many years, and while they are having a hard time, they are still bright eyed and want attention. Rose's stories about losing her dogs due to illness or just plain old age really helped me make the right decision for my own pets. For now, we will keep caring for them as long as they act happy and well. They will let me know when it's time to let them go, and Rose's book helped confirm that for me. I needed that confirmation so I can make sure I'm doing what's right for my own pets and not to be selfish.
I have met Rose over the Internet due to our mutual work to help save the Tennessee Walking Horse from illegal cruelty that continues within the show ring (see her book, The Horse That Wouldn't Trot). I am so glad that she shares her stories to the public. She gives us a much-needed reprieve from negativity in the world, and her books always leave me with a true happiness is my heart.

Dogs Dogs and More Dogs My Life with Dobermans K9s Schnauzers Rescues and a Very Special Miss Muffitt Rose Miller 9781457549878 Books Reviews
Rose has a unique story telling ability that makes you feel like you are sitting with her in your family room having coffee. This is a wonderful book full of stories about her dogs and experiences. I highly recommend it for any animal lover and it would be an excellent gift.
I have read several of Rose Miller's books and enjoy her easy, conversational style of writing. These stories are touching, heartwarming, educational and entertaining! Highly recommended reading.
Rose Miller always inspires me with her amazing connection with and love for her animals. She goes above and beyond to do for them all. She is a wonderful woman.
I loved reading this book (as well as the author's other two books). It flows very much like a conversation with a good friend, moves right along from one story to the next and held my interest to the end. It is an honest, heartfelt account of the joys and sorrows of life with many dog companions. Also a lot of good practical ideas on dog health, diet and training. A must read for anyone who loves animals!
This is a heartwarming story that all dog and animal lovers the world over will enjoy and identify with! Rose takes her readers along on her lifelong journey as an animal lover and trainer, sharing her most joyous, rewarding, challenging, and yes, heartbreaking experiences. You will laugh out loud, sympathize and commiserate with, shed tears, and rejoice as she recounts her life with many wonderful canines! Even better, Rose is donating profits from this book to the animal rescues she has supported for many years! This book is an enjoyable win win for all! Don't miss it!
Rose Miller is passionate about animals, and her knack for communicating with and about them is artfully and intriguingly woven into each of the tales in this book, as well as in each of her other books! You will not want to put this one, or any of them, down if you share her love for animals and how they interact with their human counterparts!
What a great book! The easy way that Rose writes her books makes you want the weather to keep you from your chores so you can stay in all day and read it to the end! It was easy for me to imagine Rose and her animals because I know her and have worked with some of her animals too. The love they have for her is palpable as they walk by her side and lay down with her in her living room. The animals in her stories feel like they are right there with me as I read about them. Her stories are warm and allow you to feel a connection as you read. Her books do what every good book should do, in my opinion, transport you to that very same place the author is transported to as they write their story and Rose does not disappoint! A really fun author throughout every book. I feel lucky to hear her stories and live in the scenery she talks about in the pages. It's very evident how much they love her and I appreciate the way she shares her complete love for them as she writes her stories. If you know of a dog, horse or mule lover, you should send them her books. Easy to read, easy to love and easy to share with others.
